As part of “Resisting the Ongoing Nakba” activities, BADIL implements the 1st Al Awda Training School for 2025

Under the slogan "77 Years of Ongoing Nakba: Resisting Ongoing Forcible Displacement," and as part of the Nakba 77 activities, BADIL Resource Center for Palestinian Residency and Refugee Rights implemented the first Al Awda Training School for the year 2025. In partnership with a group of community-based organizations in Mandatory Palestine, this three-day training (16-18 May 2025) was attended by 27 participants (14 females, 13 males).

The school highlighted the concepts of the ongoing Nakba and forcible displacement, coinciding with the launch of the campaign to resist the ongoing Nakba, implemented annually by BADIL and the Global Palestinian Refugees and IDPs Network (GPRN) at the local and international levels. The training focused on the most important current Palestinian issues, particularly the Israeli genocidal war on the Gaza Strip, which has been ongoing for more than 19 months, and the Israeli campaign to dismantle Palestinian refugee camps in the West Bank. The workshops also presented the most important political events in Palestinian history, and discussed key political and legal terms in the colonial context of Palestine. Othe workshops focused on the impact of stereotypes, geographical divisions, and Israeli fragmentation policies on Palestinian identity among Palestinian youth.

This year's first training also hosted Addameer - Prisoner Support and Human Rights Association to highlight the conditions of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisons and the role the organization plays in monitoring their conditions under the restrictions that escalated with the onset of the genocidal war.

The school also included a field visit to Aida Refugee Camp in Bethlehem, which included an introduction to Lajee Center and its programs, a field tour of the camp, and a visit to Mazyouna Abu Srour’s home, the mother of prisoner Nasser, who has been imprisoned for 33 years.

It's worth noting that Al Awda Training Schools are an essential part of the programs implemented by BADIL, which aim to strengthen communication and engagement between Palestinian youth, in addition to enhancing their knowledge and skills to raise their voices in demanding the rights of the Palestinian people, particularly Palestinian refugees and internally displaced persons.
