BADIL’s Engagement in the 50th Regular Session of the UNHRC

In the 50th regular session of the UNHRC, BADIL submitted a total of 4 written statements and 5 oral statements under Item 3.

BADIL submitted a written statement entitled “Israel’s Suppression of Palestinian Civil Society” which highlights the Israeli strategy to delegitimize Palestinian organizations by distorting resistance and terrorism. In addition, BADIL contributed an oral statement in the interactive dialogue with the Special Rapporteur (SR) on the Freedom of Assembly and Association that linking Israeli policies and practices with the denial of right to freedom of assembly and association.

BADIL submitted a written statement entitled “Israel’s Colonial-Apartheid Policies and Practices Against Palestinian Education” which highlights the Israel’s aggressive attacks against Palestinian education that violate the right to education and amount to colonization and apartheid policies. These policies and practices serve to undermine the Palestinian identity and deny the Palestinian right to self-determination. In addition, BADIL contributed an oral statement in the interactive dialogue with the SR on Education.

In the interactive dialogue with the SR on the Freedom of Opinion and Speech,  an oral statement highlighting the weaponization of anti-Semitism and terrorism by Israel to intimidate, silence and censor Palestinian and international civil societies.

In the interactive dialogue with the SR on Poverty and Human Rights, concerning his country visit and report on Lebanon, a written and oral statement calling for the protection of Palestinian refugees in Lebanon as one of the most impoverished and marginalized groups in Lebanon.

BADIL submitted a written and an oral statement in the interactive dialogue with the SR on the rights of Internally Displaced Persons. The statements highlighted on the ongoing phenomenon of the international displacement of the Palestinian people by Israel on both sides of the Green Line.
