Course in International Mobilization for Palestinian People's Inalienable Rights Description A Human Rights Based Approach to Palestinian People’s Rights BADIL Resource Center for Palestinian Residency and Refugees Rights will hold its second Course in International Mobilization for the Inalienable Rights of Palestinian People from Friday 17 July, to Tuesday 28 July 2020 in Bethlehem, Palestine. It is an 10-day program designed to raise awareness on issues, both current and historical, which impede on Palestinian peoples’ access to and realization of their rights. BADIL is an independent, human rights non-profit organization committed to protecting and promoting the rights of Palestinian refugees and internally displaced persons. Our vision, mission, programs and relationships are defined by our Palestinian identity and the principles of international humanitarian and human rights law. We seek to advance the individual and collective rights of the Palestinian people on this basis. BADIL is inviting international advocates, activists, mobilizers, and policy officers from across the spectrum to apply. This course aims to provide participants with a deeper understanding of the case of Palestine through in-depth lectures, discussions and field visits, that will delve into the history of the Palestinian struggle, earlier Palestinian revolutions, the Palestinian right of return, policies of forcible displacement, colonization, annexation and apartheid, and other international law and frameworks relating to the Palestinian case, in connection with the facts on the ground. The program will include working group discussions, complemented by field visits to areas under threat of displacement, that will address Israeli policies designed to systematically fragment Palestinian voices, experiences and needs. These visits will allow participants to witness first-hand the day to day reality and mechanisms of the aforementioned Israeli policies and how Palestinians endure such violations and how, in some cases, they develop ways to resist these measures. The course will also explore the issues behind the denial of the Palestinian people’s inalienable rights, and namely, the right to self-determination and the refugee right to return. The program will provide the space for working discussions on tangible strategies to improve international solidarity for Palestinian people. Specifically, this will include learning the skills and methods to better influence policy makers’ public opinion and engage the international community, and ultimately improve their ability to mobilize the international community to support Palestinian people in their struggle for the realization of their rights. Participants will leave with greater abilities to defend, promote, and advance Palestinian rights within the international community, accompanied by a durable mobilization network of international organizations and individuals to collaborate and work with. Participation in the course includes accommodation, meals, and travel within Palestine. A fee of $300 is required upon arrival to the course. Participants will be responsible for the cost of their international travel and any associated insurance costs.
