1. BADIL Resource Center and al-Ru'ah TV/Bethlehem present BADIL's video documentary "Yoom Ilak, Yoom Aleik: Palestinian Refugees from Jerusalem 1948" to the Palestinian public in the southern West Bank. The film, including eyewitness accounts of the massacre committed by Zionist forces in Deir Yasin, will be screened by al-Ru'ah TV on Sunday, 11 April 1999, at 8:00 pm.
2. NEW on the BADIL WEBSITE
On the eve of the 51st anniversary of the Deir Yasin massacre, visitors to Badil Resource Center’s website can read about Deir Yasin and the massacre on the oral history webpage. (www.badil.org/History/deiryas.htm) The interview was conducted originally in 1998 for Badil’s film about Jerusalem in 1948 called Yoom Ilak, Yoom Aleik. Segments of the interview were used in the film. The entire interview, conducted at Deir Yasin and in Salfit, West Bank where Ahmad Hamidi and Na’meh Darwish, Palestinian survivors of Deir Yasin now live, is now on the website.
Visitors to Badil’s website will also find photos of refugee camps in Lebanon, Syria, Gaza and the West Bank. (www.badil.org/History/photos.htm) The photos on the website represent the initial stages of Badil’s project to create an online photo bank related to Jerusalem and refugees.
New pages have also been added to the refugee page. (www.badil.org/Refugee/refugee.htm) The pages provide a brief description and email links to Palestinian Non-governmental Organizations working for refugee rights. These links will be updated as part of the campaign for the defense of refugee rights.
Badil’s new quarterly, al Majdal, will also be available online. Issues will be archived on the website following the publication of the subsequent issue. For example, our first issue (March 1999) will be available on line in June.
Finally, all of Badil’s press releases continue to be archived on the website.
