Ending UK Complicity: Webinar with Britian’s Solidarity Movements and Organizations

(Bethlehem, 22 October 2026)

On 22 October 2026, BADIL implemented a webinar focusing on building collective power and resistance to end British complicity in Israeli crimes and impose comprehensive sanctions against the Israeli regime. This webinar was held in collaboration with the Palestinian Youth Movement (PYM), Scottish Palestine Solidarity Campaign (SPSC) and War on Want.

WP34-Complicity-coverBuilding on BADIL’s recent paper, “Ending Complicity: The Case of the United Kingdom,” the webinar featured a rich discussion exploring how the Palestine solidarity movement in the UK can work more effectively and strategically towards the shared goals of dismantling the Israeli colonial-apartheid regime and securing the Palestinian people’s rights to self-determination and return.

BADIL highlighted the importance of the UK’s obligation to impose sanctions, and the various pressure points that can be mobilized towards achieving this end, exploring how to build on recent developments condemning Zionism as racism and protecting anti-Zionist speech.

PYM emphasized the need for the movement to prioritize unified, coordinated and strategic actions, with specific targets, shared red lines, and constant reflection on how to can maximize the material cost of actions for the Israeli regime, ensuring the strongest impact for people back home in Palestine. They emphasized the important role of the Palestinian diaspora whose mobilization directly refuses the Zionist fragmentation of the Palestinian people.

SPSC insisted on the importance of remembering where the movement started, how far it has come and what it has achieved, where the political act of remembering can motivate renewed energy driving our continued struggle. They emphasized the interconnected nature of British peoples’ rights with those of Palestinians, pointing to the global, cross-sector nature of shared anticolonial struggles.

The webinar closed with War on Want succinctly demonstrating the importance of understanding how structures of oppression permeate multiple facets and sectors, and that the destruction of these systems is integral to ending Israeli crimes.  Palestine solidarity is intersectional in name and in form, and cannot be isolated from the struggles of migrants and refugees, anti-colonial feminist and workers’ movements, and environmental and climate justice, as well as other anti-colonial struggles driving towards collective liberation from various forms of oppression.

This webinar was the first in a series of webinars exploring colonial states’ complicity in Israeli genocide, apartheid, forced displacement and colonialism.
