Under the theme of "Resisting the dismantling of the Palestinian refugees’ cause," BADIL Resource Center supported the implementation of community initiatives, in partnership with 14 community-based organizations in the Global Palestinian Refugee and IDPs Network (GPRN).
These initiatives targeted Palestinian refugees in camps through an online cultural contest across social media platforms during the month of Ramadan (February – March 2026). Six community-based organizations in the West Bank, and eight partner organizations in Lebanon participated in implementing the initiative with 1200 participants. The online contest featured 30 questions throughout Ramadan, at a rate of one question per day, with symbolic prizes awarded to encourage participation among youth. The contest aimed to raise awareness among Palestinian refugees about issues related to their rights and to highlight the Israeli campaign to eliminate Palestinian refugee rights, including dismantling UNRWA, destroying refugee camps, and ongoing policies of forced displacement. These initiatives contribute to strengthening community engagement, particularly among younger generations, and refocusing attention on the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people.
However, the intensification of the Israeli regime’s aggression against Lebanon prevented partner organizations there from completing the initiative as planned. In response to these emergency conditions, the initiatives were adapted and redirected into urgent humanitarian interventions, focusing on providing assistance to Palestinian refugees displaced from southern Lebanon.
This initiative builds on a series of activities and initiatives implemented by BADIL in partnership with the GPRN, emphasizing the importance of continued community-based initiatives in confronting policies aimed at dismantling the Palestinian cause. It further seeks to strengthen the resilience of Palestinian refugees and the promotion of their rights to UNRWA’s services and return and.
