Press Releases
On 5 March, during the 61st regular session of the United Nations Human Rights Council, BADIL Resource Center delivered an oral statement under Item 3, during the Interactive Dialogue with the Special Rapporteur on the Right to Food, responding to his report and highlighting the relationship between food security and the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination.
BADIL emphasized that land rights are inseparable from the right to food, warning that the Israeli regime systematically denies Palestinians access to land, resources, and food systems across Mandatory Palestine through confiscation, displacement, and land concentration under a regime of colonization, forced transfer, and apartheid.
BADIL also warned that under UN Security Council Resolution 2803 and the annexed Trump 20-point plan, Gaza would fall under the “Board of Peace” (BoP), dominated by the United States and the Israeli regime, turning food, reconstruction, and aid into tools of political control.
BADIL concluded that food security in Palestine is integral to the exercise of the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and return, and called on UN member states to reject solutions outside international law, boycott the BoP, implement reparations, including return, restitution, and compensation, and impose the full spectrum of sanctions against the Israeli regime.
