BADIL Resource Center for Palestinian Residency and Refugee Rights concluded the third and final session of Al Awda school training program for this year. The three-day training was held from 10-12 October 2025, with the participation of 18 Palestinians from various areas of mandatory Palestine. With this, BADIL concludes its 2025 Awda school training program.
The agenda included a series of workshops that built on previous sessions, focusing on topics such as the impact of colonialism on the consciousness and behavior of the colonized, and ways to dismantle and confront these effects. A workshop titled, “How do we return?” was also held, during which participants discussed their visions and practical approaches of return.
Following up on previous trainings, a dialogue session was held on the current situation, highlighting key developments: the ceasefire in Gaza following two years of genocide, the ongoing displacement of refugees from camps in the northern West Bank, and the New York Declaration on the two-state solution.
A lecture titled, “The Culture of Oslo”, was provided by Ahmad Atallah, a researcher addressing the political, social, and economic transformations imposed on Palestinian society following the Oslo Accords.
The training also included an intensive workshop on the role of Palestinian youth, organized by three members of the Palestinian Youth Forum (PYF). Participants learned about the Forum and its programs and received a training on how to develop various community initiatives.
As part of efforts to strengthening the resilience of Palestinian refugees, a field visit was organized to Dheisheh refugee camp. The visit included a tour of the camp and Ibdaa Cultural Center. Participants also met with the family of martyr Fadi Ghattas, whose body has been held by the Israeli colonial-apartheid regime since 2022. This meeting aimed to shed light on the ongoing issue of Palestinian martyrs whose bodies are being held by the Israeli regime in morgues and the “cemeteries of numbers.”
Al Awda school program is a core component of BADIl’s programs implemented in partnership with its partner civil society organizations. The program aims to strengthen connection among Palestinian youth across mandatory Palestine and equip them with knowledge and skills needed to advocate for the rights of Palestinian people, particularly refugee and displaced persons.
As graduates, a number of 2025 Al Awda school participants will join the Palestinian Youth Forum and contribute to its strategic plan for 2026.
