BADIL Resource Center for Palestinian Residency and Refugee Rights, in partnership with the Center for Refugee Rights – ‘Aidoun and Aamel International Association for Human Rights in Lebanon concluded the second training course on international law and Palestinian refugee rights.  A total of 24 youth participants (half women), 21 Palestinian and 3 Lebanese attended the three-day program.

The training course included a series of legal, political, and skills workshops, primarily aimed at enhancing the participants’ knowledge of the fundamental rights of Palestinians refugees and the tools necessary to raise their voices and defend their rights. These workshops included a training session on inalienable rights, highlighting the Palestinian national program in light of the Israeli genocide in the Gaza Strip. It also highlighted the role and responsibility of states, UN bodies, and the global solidarity movement in the face of the Israeli colonial-apartheid regime’s crimes.

To examine and analyze the current situation, the training course examined the concept of normalization at the individual, institutional, and governmental levels, as well as the ongoing Israeli campaign to dismantle and replace UNRWA, and recent diplomatic moves to recognize a Palestinian state.

On a practical level, and in partnership with Majed Abu Sharar Media Foundation (MASMF), the training focused on enhancing participants' knowledge in presenting the Palestinian struggle and the importance of equipping themselves with accurate legal and political information and terms necessary for all those defending the rights of the Palestinian people.

In the closing session of the training, BADIL, ‘Aidoun, and the participants discussed the reality and future of the Palestinian refugees’ presence in Lebanon in light of colonial forced displacement plans and the continued denial of the rights of the Palestinian people, particularly their rights to return and self-determination.

This training course is one of the strategic programs implemented periodically by BADIL and ‘Aidoun, which aims to enhance the knowledge and skills of young Palestinian refugees and build a network of relationships among Palestinian refugees in their areas of residence.
