BADIL conducts the third session of the 'Palestinian Women's Stories' Project

BADIL Resource Center for Palestinian Residency and Refugee Rights concluded the third session of the 'Palestinian Women's Stories' project on Friday, 20 January 2023, in partnership with 6 Palestinian organizations in Mandatory Palestine and Lebanon. This project targets 25 female Palestinian participants (18-29 years old) who are interested in the fields of media, storytelling, and documentation.

The third session of the program featured interactive and training workshops delivered by the BADIL Resource Center team, which focused on the Palestinian woman within the context of colonization and her essential role that is inseparable from the process of liberation. The workshop discussed the patriarchal system and the reference to women as “the second sex”, the marginalization of women in politics and the public sphere. The participants then discussed ways to end the portrayal of women in literature and media through the patriarchal male perspective.

The project primarily aims to enhance the presence of women in the public sphere and activate their participation in political, social, and economic life by highlighting the stories of Palestinian women, showcasing their lives with all their complexities and simplicity. The project also aims to strengthen the capacities of women in the fields of media, short story narration, and documentation. After completing the training phase, the participants will work together to produce a booklet containing 10-15 distinctive stories of Palestinian women, regardless of their location or the nature of their work and socio-economic situation. The importance of this project stems from the need to shed light on Palestinian women, especially as essential actors in the liberation movement, particularly given their political and social marginalization.

This project is part of BADIL's strategy, which aims to empower rights holders, especially  women and youth who are marginalized, with the necessary tools and skills to amplify their voices and their struggles as Palestinians and women.
