The project primarily aims to enhance women's presence in the public sphere and activate their participation in political, social, and economic life by highlighting the stories of women, showcasing their lives with all their complexities and simplicities. The project also aims to strengthen capacities of women in the fields of media, short story narration, and documentation. After completing the training phase, the participants will collaborate to produce a booklet containing 10-15 distinctive stories of Palestinian women, regardless of their location or the nature of their work and socio-economic situation. The significance of this project arises from the necessity to spotlight Palestinian women, particularly as essential actors in the liberation movement, especially given their political and social marginalization.
The workshop was led by Dr. Lina Miari, a lecturer at Birzeit University, who discussed spoke about the conditions of women in the colonial context and the negative impact of colonization on the structure of Palestinian society, which results in the denial of Palestinian women's rights, their increased suffering and marginalization and their political exclusion.
This project is part of BADIL's strategy, which aims to empower rights holders, especially women and youth who are marginalized, with the necessary tools and skills to amplify their voices and their struggles as Palestinians and women.
