For the consideration of the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the occupied Palestinian territory, BADIL submitted a report on the question of the right to self-determination for the Palestinian people.

In its report, BADIL highlighted the interplay between colonialism, apartheid, self-determination and the right of return for Palestinian refugees and how the Israeli apartheid-colonial regime denies Palestinian people their right to self-determination. It further demonstrated that right of return and the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination are intrinsically dependent and inseparable, and without one, the other cannot be fulfilled.

It further provided the foundational information surrounding the obligations of third-party states and discussed the failure of international community to take practical measures to not only end Israel’s impunity but also to ensure decolonization and the dismantling of the Israeli colonial-apartheid regime, which are measures that lead to the only viable solution to the realization of self-determination.
