28.03.2013. BADIL Resource Center. The 22nd session of the Human Rights Council (HRC) commenced from the 25th of February to the 22nd of March 2013. BADIL actively participated in the event submitting two joint written statements and three oral submissions. In addition, BADIL joined one written statement and one oral statement submitted by other organizations. Two joint-ngo statements were submitted alongside the 22nd session.
BADIL organized a side event on the International Fact-Finding Mission on Israeli Settlements in the Occupied Palestinian Territory on 18 March. BADIL also participated in a side event organized by Adalah on the Violation of Housing, Land and Planning Rights in Israel and the oPt on Monday 4 March.
BADIL engaged with various stake holders and participants of official delegations in addition to members of international civil society such as a meeting with UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Navi Pillay on 12 March.
The recent HRC session was an important opportunity for BADIL to promote its 2013 advocacy strategy and to uphold the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people. BADIL focused on illustrating Israel’s policy of ongoing forcible displacement of the Palestinian people throughout the occupied Palestinian territory and Israel proper.
