BADIL publishes its new brochure titled “The International Responsibility to Protect Palestinian Refugees and UNRWA”.

On 11 December 1948, the UN General Assembly adopted Resolution 194, affirming Palestinian refugees and internally displaced persons’ right to reparation, including the rights to return to their homes, property restitution, compensation and socio-economic rehabilitation.

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) was created on 8 December 1949 by the UN General Assembly with the adoption of Resolution 302, mandated to provide aid and services to Palestinian refugees until the implementation of Resolution 194.

In light of the Israeli dismantlement campaign against UNRWA, BADIL has produced this brochure to emphasize UNRWA’s vital role and the obligations of third states and the international community to ensure its protection.
