BADIL mourns the death of Ahmad Muhaisen, the Head of the Board of Directors

Bethlehem, 8 September 2014 − BADIL mourns the death of Ahmad Muhaisen, the Head of the Board of Directors who passed away on Sunday, 7 September 2014. He was 57 in his death.

Ahmad was devoted to the Palestinian struggle since early age, and was tried and jailed by the Israeli occupation more than once. But this never diverted his commitment from the Palestinian cause. He committed himself to union struggles, advocating for labor rights in Palestine, and was dedicated to the rights of Palestinian refugees, establishing, with others, BADIL Resource Center for Palestinian Residency and Refugee Rights in the late 1990s. He was elected as the Head of the Board of Directors three different times, developing the vision and work of the organization.

Together with the late French Communist activist Fernand Tuil he was responsible for the twinning of French cities and Palestinian refugee camps. Ahmad was a devout defender of women rights. He was a good husband and a loving father.
