BADIL to participate in International Advocacy Events in Thailand and the UK

26-11-2013. BADIL Resource Center is delighted to announce its participation in two major international events this week.

November 29th is recognized around the world as the ‘International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People’. This solidarity day was first announced in 1977 by the United Nations following the passing of GA Resolution 32/40B, and is observed annually on November 29th. Within the 2013 events, BADIL will participate in a significant event to be held in the United Nations headquarters in Bangkok, Thailand. The event will include the reading of a prepared statement of support written by Secretary-General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-Moon, and BADIL’s participation will feature a screening of BADIL’s new film ‘An Introduction to the Practicalities of Return’ along with a photographic exhibition entitled ‘Palestine’s Ongoing Nakba’ – both produced by BADIL’s Ongoing Nakba Education Center.

On November 30th, three more films produced by BADIL’s Ongoing Nakba Education Center will be screened at the ‘Cinema Palestino’ international film festival that is held annually in Sheffield, UK. These films – ‘Ink on Paper’, ‘Dead Olives and Settlements’, and ‘Sons of Lifta’ – have all been produced by BADIL between 2012-2013 and portray different elements of the Palestinian struggle against the Zionist colonial project. Following the screening of these films, BADIL staff will take part in a live video link-up to the festival to participate in a question and answer session with the festival audience.

These films and the accompanying photographic exhibition represent just a small fraction of the multi-media advocacy tools produced by BADIL’s Ongoing Nakba Education Center. Dozen’s of other films, photo-stories and interviews can be found on the project specific website – www.ongoingnakba.org

BADIL’s Ongoing Nakba Education Center was developed in 2011 to support BADIL’s ongoing and established legal, research and advocacy-based work in defense of Palestinian rights with a particular focus on refugee rights and Palestinian residency.
