The 2006 Nakba Memorial Poster: Palestinian Artist from the Occupied Gaza Strip Wins 2006 Award for Best Poster on the Palestinian Nakba

The winner of the best poster commemorating the Palestinian Nakba in 2006 is the Palestinian arts designer Tayseer al-Batniji from the Gaza Strip. His poster will be reproduced by BADIL for use in the 2006 Nakba memorial events in Palestine and beyond. For the award winning poster, see: www.badil.org/publications/posters

The poster of the Gaza artist was selected by an independent committee composed of Palestinian artists and refugee rights activists. Some 50 professional designers and amateurs from Palestine and beyond had contributed over 70 poster designs to this BADIL sponsored international competition.

Tayseer Batniji was born in Gaza City in 1966 and received training in fine arts and design in PalestineItaly, France and Germany. He has participated in numerous exhibitions in Palestine and abroad and is a member of the Palestinian Artists Association and the International Artists Association (AIAP) based in ParisFrance.

A small financial prize will be handed to the award winner in a modest ceremony organized by BADIL Resource Center and the Palestinian Right of Return Coalition in cooperation with the Union of Youth Activity Centers-Gaza Strip in the Khan Younis Refugee Camp Service Club on 4 May 2005 (06:00 p.m.).
