Iqrith Photo-story Nov 2012 BADIL
The villagers of Iqrith have led an ongoing struggle for return since their forced displacement in 1948. In the early 1970's, following a prolonged legal battle for return, the villagers proactively renovated and then began again to use the village church even whilst living in exile. Although denied their rights to live in their village, IDPs from Iqrith continue to celebrate, worship and mourn together in the church and village cemetery. A small group of youth have now taken this issue into their own hands and begun to live in the church. As they say, 'return is a right for the living not just the dead'.
